It's a tie. It may sound cliche, but of course it's my parents. They have always been there for me, literally, they have no choice. Something that I have come to realize about parents is how lucky we are to have both a mother and a father. Each is different in their role in raising the family, but we as children need those differences. I can go to my parents each for varying things. They both have their strengths. I have come to realize when I need someone to help me to make a decision, to lay things out for me, I tend to go to my dad. When I need some girl time and reassurance and a loving reminder of who I really am and what others see in me, I go to my mom. And it's not even that I couldn't go to the other parent in a vice versa sort of situation but they each have their roles and, to me, they play them perfectly. I learn so much from each of them and hope to one day be a part of a husband/wife team as great as theirs is.
Love you both and thank you for everything.
Steph,
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice tribute to your two parents, who are among my very favorites in this world. I liked how you recognized their different strengths, and the complementary roles that they have in your life.
